About Centre

The Centre for Advocacy, Practice and Research on Intellectual Property (CAPRIP) is set up at the Dharmashastra National Law University, Jabalpur to ensure capacity building and advocacy on various facets of Intellectual Property Rights (IPRs) among students, research scholars, professionals, and industry experts. It includes patent, trademark, copyright, industrial design, geographical indication, protection of plant variety & farmers' rights, protection of biological diversity, genetic resources, & traditional knowledge, unfair competition, and trade secrets under its purview. The knowledge of IPR is relevant and important for students, researchers, and personnel from different industry sectors, like scientists, management personnel, MSMEs & startups, and tribal/traditional communities. The objective of this center is to do advocacy for everyone who is in need of comprehensive knowledge about IPR and its application; and consultancy for dispute resolution.

Centre Objectives

IPR is a multi-disciplinary subject. It includes patent, trademark, copyright, industrial design, geographical indication, protection of plant variety & farmers' rights, protection of biological diversity, genetic resources, & traditional knowledge, unfair competition, and trade secrets under its purview. The knowledge of IPR is relevant and important for students, researchers, and personnel from different industry sectors, like scientists, management personnel, MSMEs & startups, and tribal/traditional communities. Centre Activities

The Center for Advocacy, Practice, and Research on Intellectual Property(CAPRIP) is set up at the university with the aim of capacity building and advocacy on different aspects of Intellectual Property Rights(IPRs) among students, research scholars, professionals, industry people and population of Madhya Pradesh and society of India at large.

Head Activities.

  • Two day legal training program for MSME and Start ups in collaboration with Jabalpur Chamber of Commerce and industry and smart city incubation center(March 2022).
  • CAPRIP-DNLU 1st Poster making Competition, CAPRIP IP Mela, World IP day(April 2022).
  • Workshop on basics of Intellectual Property litigation in collaboration with Nishith Desai Associates(November 2022).
  • Research on patentability of diagnostic, therapeutic and surgical methods for treatment in the United States(November 2022-January 2023).
  • WIPO conducted a video making competition on "Women And IP".
